Overcoming stress with CBD

Overcoming stress with CBD…

If you often find yourself feeling stressed out – you’re not alone. A large percentage of adults in the UK admit to feeling overwhelmed on both a daily and weekly basis. In the past year alone, 74% of people have even felt so stressed ‘they have been overwhelmed or unable to cope’. So, with increased working hours, making time for family, and a social calendar, how can we make sure life doesn’t get on top of us? One thing that may be able to help is the popular health and wellness supplement known as CBD…

What is CBD oil good for?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural remedy derived from the cannabis plant, however, unlike the infamous Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) cannabinoid it won’t get you high and has a number of possible health benefits. It is very popular in the health and wellness world and some scientific studies are confirming that it could ease symptoms of ailments like chronic pain, stress and anxiety.

For stress alone, one study saw 24 people with social anxiety receive either 600mg of CBD or a placebo before taking part in a public speaking task. The group receiving CBD reported significantly less stress, anxiety, cognitive impairment, and discomfort in their speech compared to those in the placebo group. Another recent review discusses the findings of 32 different rodent studies that tested CBD’s effect on stress – and the only one did not see useful results.

How does it work?

CBD can help us overcome stress thanks to the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). This is a group of network receptors in which we all have, which interact within the human brain and many of our vital organs and exclusively with cannabinoids like CBD and THC. The reason CBD can possibly relieve stress is because of the many receptors found throughout our ECS. Many of which are concentrated in the area of the brain that regulates our mood and stress levels.

Interactions between CBD and these receptors have been shown to reduce erratic stress signals and improve our stress response by interfering with how we process stressful situations. By doing so, it significantly reduces the symptoms of stress and even how we respond in future similar situations.

Add it to your morning coffee…

Most of us begin our day with a cup of coffee, so why not put your CBD with your caffeine fix? You can make your own by simply adding in a few drops of CBD tincture at home, in the office, or to your coffee-to-go. Or if you consider yourself something of a coffee connoisseur there are plenty of organic, slow-roasted, CBD coffee beans out there on the market, what better way to kickstart your morning.

Use CBD skin care…

CBD is without a doubt the most popular ingredient in the world of skin care at the moment. It can help mitigate acne, help with anti-ageing, and leave you with soft glowing skin. So why not take 5-10 minutes to yourself in the evening, lock the bathroom door and give yourself some much needed TLC. Combined with the stress relieving properties of CBD you’ll be feeling less relaxed in no time.

Get a CBD massage…

We understand that you can’t just pop off for a massage every time you feel a bit stressed out (even though we really wish we could) but a CBD massage can be the perfect treat for when things get a little too much. It’s become quite a popular wellness trend and this is all down to CBD’s anti-inflammatory and stress-relieving properties. It’s the perfect way to recharge your batteries and both your body and mind will thank you after.
