How to Make Your Own Hydrating Face Mist

Summer is here! The sun may or may not be shining wherever you are but any skincare addict has one of these products in their toiletry bag.

Just like your body, your skin needs hydration. Whether you want to cool your skin or soothe your face, a face mist is a perfect solution.

Moisturising face sprays provide instant relief and freshness to the skin. Whether you're on the go or prepping your skin for makeup application, a facial spray is an ideal addition to your skincare routine.

Tip: Leave it in the fridge before using and enjoy an instant freshness on your face.

So, what is a face mist?

A face mist instantly hydrates and refreshes the skin. Different mists have different scents and use. Some with coconut oil help soothe the skin, infused with mandarin extract can help brighten and revive the skin...

The list is endless.

Woman using face mist

By applying it as a base or primer on clean skin, a face mist can help with boosting hydration and absorption of other skincare products in your routine.

So what are the benefits?

Facial mists can soothe, refresh and hydrate the skin. Instead of topping up on makeup, why not add a face mist to your mid-day skincare routine.

Depending on the ingredients in the face mist, your skin's health and appearance may significantly be improved. Adding antioxidants, vitamins and natural plant extracts to the product can help promote healthy glowing skin.

Perhaps this is personal, but the act of misting your face can be quite relieving and soothing. Please ensure to close your eyes when applying any face mist to the skin, unless the product's instructions state otherwise. Taking a much needed but very short 1 minute to apply the face mist during your hectic day can give your mind a short break.

Last but not at all least, face mists are the perfect skincare addition  - super discreet and convenient. Keep it in your handbag, in the car or on your desk. Face mists don't require rinsing or wiping after application.

Poko Luxury Facial Oil Ingredients

Our Luxury Facial Oil is the ideal addition to your face mist. With the following ingredients, it is the super skincare product with multiple benefits -

Baobab oil is known for softening the skin and soothing irritating skin. Baobab also helps restore suppleness to the skin and can help prevent the skin from ageing.

Moringa oil is very nourishing for the skin, keeping it soft and hydrated. The oil can quickly penetrate the skin, which is perfect and avoids the oily-feel.

Last but definitely not least, pomegranate extract is a powerful anti-inflammatory that can help prevent the formation of wrinkles, fine-lines and blemished. The pomegranate extract can neutralise the free radicals in the cell and Vitamin C can aid the regulation of sebum production.

Making your own Face Mist

Before spraying the product onto your skin, please ensure to patch test the ingredients 24 hours beforehand. Some skin types can be irritated by essentials oils and other ingredients used.

  • A funnel
  • A spray bottle

  • Rosewater
  • Purified Water
  • 2 Tablespoons of Aloe Vera Gel
  • 5 drops of Facial Oil

  • Pour the water and rose water into the bottle and mix well.
  • Add your Facial Oil and scented essential oil (optional).
  • Recap the bottle. Shake the bottle, ensuring all ingredients are mixed.
  • Store the bottle in the fridge to conserve. Shake the face mist before each use. (The reason for this is because this product contains both oil and water-soluble ingredients, and the problem with such emulsions is that they separate easily.)

The benefits of using a face mist include hydration, improved absorption, a smoother application of makeup and a more radiant appearance. Go forth and become a facial mist queen.
